The Sorghum Transcriptome
This NSF-funded project represents a major activity of our laboratory. Between 1998 and 2001 close to 108,000 ESTs derived from half that number of cDNAs were deposited in GenBank. They provide a unigene set of about 16,000 members. During this same period a custom Oracle relational database was designed and implemented. The database provides both quality control and ready access to all data. All cDNA clones providing successful sequencing templates are available upon request. Renewed funding has been obtained in collaboration with John Mullet, Patricia Klein and Robert Klein of Texas A & M University. It provides for an additional ~100,000 ESTs, now from libraries enriched in full-length sequences (collaboration with Drs. Yutaka Suzuki and Sugio Sugamo of Tokyo University School of Medicine), and comprehensive microarray analyses of transcriptome expression.
