The
upper panel displays the sequence in text format, the lower panel graphically.
The vertical axis is the phred quality score for each base called (10
= 90% accuracy, 20 = 99%, 30 = 99.9%, and so on). The Blast button
takes a user to either GenBank or to our own local Blast page. The
sequence can be viewed raw, or trimmed to identify vector, polyT, only
high-quality sequence, high-quality seqence trimmed of vector, high-quality
sequence trimmed of vector and contaminants (such as E. coli),
or (as here) high-quality sequence as submitted to GenBank. Alternatively,
a user can bracket any sequence range desired using a mouse or can place
the cursor at a single base. In the latter case, a user can then
use the arrow keys to move around the sequence, viewing individual phred
quality scores below the graphical display.
