Human Embryonic Stem Cell ESTs

In collaboration with Bresagen, we have obtained 29,657 high quality 5' ESTs and 3,353 high quality 3' ESTs from three human embryonic stem cell lines.  The 5' sequences, after removal of vector, adapter and low quality ends, average 744 nt.  All sequences are available from this web site and GenBank.  All trace files are also available from GenBank.  This effort was funded by the National Cancer Institute.  The results form part of the Mammalian Gene Collection project.

These sequences were obtained from arrayed I.M.A.G.E. Consortium [LLNL] cDNA clones (The I.M.A.G.E. Consortium: An Integrated Molecular Analysis of Genomes and their Expression, Lennon, G.G., Auffray, C., Polymeropoulos, M., and Soares, M.B., [1966] Genomics 33, pgs. 151-152).  Clones are available through the I.M.A.G.E. Consortium.

Naming Convention for DNA Sequences - a clone name consists of the first three parts of a sequence name (cDNA library + block number + well)

JSP Sequence Viewer - Java ServerPages with searchable or drill-down access to sequences and GenBank links

MAGIC Sequence Viewer - this Java GUI provides phred quality values for each base, identifies vector/adapter, polyT, high quality trimmed length, access to BLAST, ability to create and download fasta files, 6-frame translations, and more - Java Web Start is required and a link to obtain it is provided
